Optimization Toolbox lets you visually compare how different local search optimization algorithms behave on different functions. The goal of the algorithms is to find the highest peak in each function using as few iterations as possible. This task is very simple compared to most real world optimization problems, but is enough to demonstrate the behavior of different algorithms.

The following algorithms are implemented:

  • Hill Climbing
  • Simulated Annealing
  • Genetic Algorithm
  • Genetic Algorithm with elitism (best individual is always selected)
